Bulgaria will be condemned for the shutdown of the Belene NPP – 2024-08-10 19:42:53

/ world today news/ Energy expert Rumen Ovcharov expressed skepticism about the intention to liberalize the energy market.

Liberalization implies benefits when it creates real choices, and in our case that would mean more middlemen. Prices will change, but in an upward direction. Product quality cannot be changed with additional merchants. It will happen like with the heat accountants who became the intermediary we pay. There will probably be regulations, but the intermediate units are not philanthropists, their goal is to make a profit, he told BNR.

In our energy sector, things are quite reversed and everyone is complaining. I think that only the energy minister and the chairman of the committee in the parliament are satisfied. The costs of NEK have not been reduced. What is flowing out has not decreased, only more money has started pouring in. I see no reason to be happy.

No additional measures are being taken for the financial recovery of NEK, said R. Ovcharov. According to him, it is acting half-heartedly and there is no result. It should be clarified who produces how much and which part of this production is really effective, commented Ovcharov.

When asked who will pay if our country is condemned for stopping the “Belene” NPP project, Rumen Ovcharov answered that Bulgaria will be condemned and no one doubts who will pay. He opined that stopping the project was a mistake.
