Bulgaria supports the goals related to the construction of a modern, sustainable and competitive European tourism ecosystem – 2024-02-20 15:54:37

“Bulgaria supports the goals related to the construction of a modern, sustainable and competitive European tourism ecosystem, which are enshrined in the European Tourism Program 2030 and the “Tourism Transition Path”. We encourage the development of new ideas and policies that, in addition to integrating innovative solutions in the sector, contribute to the achievement of a digital and green transition,” said Minister Zaritsa Dinkova.

Minister Dinkova took part in the informal meeting of the EU tourism ministers in the city of La Julpe, Belgium, where the progress of the member states in the implementation of the goals set in the European Tourism Program 2030 and the “Tourism Transition Path” were discussed, as well as the prospects for tourism in the next European mandate.

In line with EU-level tourism objectives, the Ministry of Tourism has carried out an interim evaluation of the National Strategy for Sustainable Tourism Development in the Republic of Bulgaria 2014-2030. The update of our strategy is included as one of the 14 good strategies for sustainable developments in the Tourism Transition Path: A Review of Progress to 2023

To promote the digital transition, the Ministry is also developing a strategic document for the digital transformation of tourism, which should be prepared by May 2024.

Minister Zaritsa Dinkova also emphasized that tourism should be better represented from an institutional point of view at the European level. “We must work for a separate budget line, a greater number of diverse and specially developed European programs and projects, addressing challenges and opportunities specific to the sector,” the minister pointed out.

Tourism makes a significant contribution to the economic development of the whole of Europe and can help to achieve the objectives of various European, national, regional and local policies, thanks to its cross-sectoral, economic and social dimensions. The high proportion of micro, small and medium-sized enterprises directly or indirectly involved in tourism underlines the importance of the sector for the Union.
“It is necessary to strengthen resistance at the European level and to the negative consequences of hybrid attacks that affect the development of tourism, based on solidarity and support between all countries,” said Minister Dinkova.
