Our country ranked among the top ten tourist destinations in terms of recovery after the pandemic
Bulgaria is in the top 10 in the ranking of the best recovering destinations for the first quarter of 2023 in a total of two categories. This is reported by the World Tourism Organization to the United Nations (WTO), Blagoevgrad24.bg quotes.
The latest WTO barometer presents positive news for the European tourism industry and for our country in particular.
The comparison is with the pre-pandemic year 2019 in terms of number of tourist visits and income from international tourism.
In the first category, the growth for Bulgaria is 27%, which gives us 6th place in the world. In terms of revenues from international tourism, a growth of 21% is reported, which places our country in 10th place on a global scale.
According to published data, twice as many people traveled in the first quarter of 2023 than in the same period of 2022.
Strong demand within the European continent and the recovery of a number of the world’s leading emission markets are cited as the reason for this.
The data shows that 2023 is off to an exceptionally strong start for Mediterranean European destinations, which have surpassed 2019 levels and demonstrate the resilience and attractiveness of the European tourism sector.
According to a WTO study, nearly 70% of industry experts expect the upward trend of European destinations to continue during the upcoming summer season.
This forecast brings optimism and strengthens faith in the successful recovery of the European tourism industry, reports the Ministry of Tourism.
