Bankya Blast: overgas Owner Challenges Natural Gas Theory, Calls for Truth
In a recent episode of BTV’s Face-to-Face, Sasho Donchev, the owner of Overgas, addressed the tragic Bankya blast that occurred last week, wich destroyed half of a twin house and claimed the life of at least one woman. Donchev expressed his concerns about the investigation, stating, “I expect people who are relevant to the tragedy investigation to say the whole truth of society. Some things seem to remain hidden.”
The explosion, initially attributed to natural gas, has been met with skepticism by Donchev. “The least possible version was launched—that this explosion is natural gas. from my personal perspective, there are at least 2-3 versions that are more likely, but this will certainly be clear. When I saw the shots, it was clear to me that this could not happen from natural gas,” he asserted.
Donchev provided technical details to support his claim, explaining that the pressure in the gas installation is 300 times less than that of a simple gas lighter. He further clarified that a blast can only occur when gas constitutes at least 8% of the total air volume in a house. Though, the affected household had been using electricity for heating over the past two years. “An average family, a user of Overgas, consumes about 1000 cubes of gas a year, and this household has 12 cubes for the whole 2024. For the whole of January, it consumed 4 cubes. I can definitely say that natural gas is not the cause of this tragedy,” he emphasized.
The Overgas owner also highlighted the company’s efforts to ensure safety. “The installation fully meets the requirements of the standard. My responsibility is to the fence, up to their property,” he said. Donchev revealed that Overgas had previously proposed taking over the technical support and supervision of the installation but was informed by the State Agency for Metrological and Technical Supervision and the EWRC that this responsibility lay with the property owner.
Donchev called for regulatory changes to prevent such tragedies in the future. “we will continue to insist that all the regulations concerning the question discussed be changed and to impose specific responsibility for these installations of a particular person. We from the gas companies are willing to take this responsibility,” he stated.
As the investigation continues, Donchev expressed hope that the authorities will uncover the truth. “I hope the investigating authorities clarify the case, but so far we have not heard that other versions,” he said.

Hyperlinks not only enhance the credibility of a news story but also provide readers with the possibility to explore original source details at a deeper level. As noted in the Online Journalism Review[[1]], “Attribution hyperlinks reward the curious reader and help writers and news organizations build credibility with a skeptical audience.” This practice ensures that readers can verify the information presented and delve into the context behind the story.
The news stories — especially if they’re external rather than internal links — the better.” This sentiment underscores the value of external hyperlinks in providing a richer, more comprehensive reading experience.By linking to external sources, journalists can offer readers a broader perspective and foster trust in their reporting.

By embedding relevant links naturally within the text, reporters can create a seamless narrative that invites readers to dive deeper into the subject matter.
