Bulgaria loses British tourists this season – ᐉ News from Fakti.bg – Business

Bulgaria is on the verge of losing British tourists once again this season, after they were not released in 2020. The reason is that yesterday the British Cabinet left our country in the yellow travel zone, which still applies to the imposition of quarantine in arrival from Bulgaria. Our neighbors Greece and Turkey remain in the same category. The green list includes the Balearic Islands (Ibiza, Menorca, Mallorca and Formentera) in Spain, Malta and the island of Madeira in Portugal, announcements BBC. Anguilla, Antigua, Bermuda, Barbados, the British Virgin Islands, the Cayman Islands, the Dominican Republic, Grenada, Montserrat and others entered from the Caribbean.

Remaining Bulgaria in the yellow zone means that the British tour operators will finally cancel their charter programs for the whole season, the representatives of the companies in our country explained to TravelNews. Thus, the hotels in the big resorts on the Bulgarian Black Sea coast will be left without British tourists. Some will not even open at all, commented the Bulgarian Hotel and Restaurant Association (BHRA).

The largest tour operator, which takes British tourists to Bulgaria – “Balkan holidays UK”, has already canceled its entire charter program to Bulgaria for the whole month of July. It is now expected to be canceled for the remaining months and the reservations to be transferred to the 2022 season, the company explained. The other major tour operator, TUI UK, has also already announced that it will not launch its charters to Bulgaria until the end of July. After remaining in the yellow zone, he is expected to cancel them for the entire season. Another big tour operator, JET2Holidays, will do the same.

Bulgaria continues to be in the yellow zone in the UK for a destination that is not recommended to travel to. When returning from our country, you must sit under mandatory quarantine. Although the incidence of coronavirus in our country is decreasing, the UK monitors the percentage of vaccinated, the provision of quarantine hotels and testing foreign tourists at each destination. Bulgaria has not made progress on all three indicators. Neither the caretaker government nor the previous one managed to provide a concept for the safety of British tourists, as required by the British authorities, commented the representatives of the tour operators.
