Bulgaria is not bad in terms of the number of tourists, nor in terms of advertising – 2024-05-05 08:05:19

Bulgaria is not bad at all in terms of the number of tourists, nor in terms of the advertising we do abroad. Rumen Draganov from the Institute for Analyzes and Evaluations in Tourism stated this in an interview with BNR.

About 170,000 trips abroad will be made by Bulgarians and about 820,000 by foreigners in our country, with 63% traveling more than once within these 10 days at the beginning of May.

Throughout May, he predicts more than 800,000 visits by foreigners to Bulgaria, and now for Easter “we expect about 70,000 to come for this celebration from Eastern Orthodoxy. These are people who have already come, seen and are now bringing their close friends.”

The majority will be mainly from the EU – Bulgaria’s neighboring countries, Draganov specified. And he announced that during the summer tourist season, 360,000 Bulgarians will work in our country and about 14,000 are the foreigners we attract to Bulgaria every year.

“This is not a problem of the society, from where someone will buy workers”, Draganov is categorical.

According to him, this season in our country will be stronger than 2023.

“Bulgarian tourism is prepared – these are preliminary contracts signed in 2022. What the current Minister of Tourism Evtim Miloshev will do is for tourists in 2025 and 2026, the tourism analyst pointed out.”

And he added: “We make a mistake by saying ‘no advertising funds.’ Since the budget of the Ministry of Tourism is about BGN 26 million, of which about BGN 12 million goes to advertising in exhibitions abroad, but we do not consider what the tourism business gives for participating in the various booking platforms. There, each hotel gives 18% of what you see as the price. In summary, it turns out that Bulgaria has about 68 million euros for advertising. And if we divide it by these 12 million foreigners who enter our country, we see that we give about 6 euros per foreigner in our country, and Greece gives about 11 per incoming tourist, and it is almost the same in Turkey,” said Draganov.
