Bulgaria has the first number of smokers in the EU – 2024-09-10 09:47:52

/ world today news/ With 34.8 percent of current smokers, Bulgaria ranks first in the EU, according to a 2014 study by the Statistical Office of the EU Eurostat.

It is stated that smoking is among the most serious health risks for EU citizens, it leads to various forms of cancer, cardiovascular and respiratory diseases.

In second place in terms of number of smokers is Greece with 32.6% smokers. Turkey is also included in the survey, where 32.5 percent of smokers are.

Bulgaria is second in the share of female smokers – 26.8%, overtaken by Austria with 27.2% and followed by Greece with 26.4 percent of women who smoke.

There are the most non-smokers in Sweden – 83.3%, followed by the United Kingdom with 82.7%, and in third place is Finland with 80.8%.
