Bulgaria has lost the “Royal Stables” case.

The state has lost in the second instance the case for many of its properties sold to the private company Eurotransbuild, Defacto said.

The case became known as the “Royal Stables” and was preceded by a loud public scandal over the free sale of state-owned properties in the ideal center of Sofia. It is curious that the first instance of the civil suit brought by the state to declare the transactions null and void was convincingly won by it. In 2019, Judge Rosen Dimitrov of the Sofia City Court (SGS) was categorical: they contradict good morals due to the extremely low prices at which three plots of land for a total of 7.3 decars were sold near the monument of Vasil Levski to private company .

Three years later, the Sofia Court of Appeal accepted the appeal of the buyer “Eurotransbuild” EOOD, reversed the decision of SGS and rejected the claims of the State for the nullity of the transactions. The decision was not unanimous, it was taken with 2 votes to 1, the president of the jury, judge Tsvetko Lazarov, was of “distinct opinion”, disagreeing with the majority. The last instance could be the Supreme Court of Cassation, if the Supreme Court of Cassation admits the case in cassation upon appeal by the State.
