The country’s national security agency said in a press release that all three had worked to “target the social and political processes in Bulgaria in favor of Russia’s geopolitical interests.”
Archimandrite Vasian of the Russian Orthodox Church is among those expelled.
The agency added that the three people have been stripped of their right of residence and banned from entering Bulgaria for five years. The statement did not provide further details and listed only the initials of the three individuals.
Last year, Bulgaria expelled 70 Russian diplomats. It was the largest number of Russian diplomats ever expelled by Bulgaria.
Bulgaria has strongly supported Western sanctions against Moscow since Russia launched its renewed invasion of Ukraine.
