JAKARTA – The Ministry of Health (Kemenkes) said that the development of dengue fever (DHF) cases in the last 38 weeks has continued to fluctuate. Until now, the number of dengue cases was 85,018.
Of these, the highest number of cases occurred in Buleleng Regency, Bali, which was around 2,682 cases. Then in second and third place are the City of Bandung, West Java and the City of Badung, Bali, which both recorded 2,138 cases.
Then followed by Sikka Regency, East Nusa Tenggara (NTT) in fourth position with 1,715 cases and fifth is East Jakarta with around 1,452 case reports.
Head of the Data and Information Center for the Directorate of Vector Infectious Diseases and Zoonotics of the Ministry of Health, Didik Budijanto, assessed that one of the factors that causes cases in some of these areas is the lack of empowerment of the surrounding community.
“That the empowerment of the people here is still lacking, so it is related to puddles of water, then the garbage, where the garbage becomes watery, it becomes a container for the mosquitoes to breed,” he said, quoted from Among.
Therefore, Didik said that the movement of one house and one larva observer (jumantik) needs to be encouraged, especially in areas that still report many dengue cases.
However, Didik said, in the rainy season amidst the current pandemic conditions, many residents claimed to be worried about the possibility of contracting Covid-19, if they carried out the movement outside their homes or in the surrounding environment.
“Actually, you shouldn’t be confused, because there is a health protocol. What is the health protocol when we are in the field,” he said.
The 3M health protocol, namely washing hands with soap, wearing a mask and maintaining a distance, must still be strictly followed when doing activities outside the home.
Then, health protocols when entering the house, such as cleaning all objects brought from outside to inside, putting dirty clothes in the laundry and hastening to take a shower also still need to be done to prevent Covid-19 transmission in the house.
As long as the health protocol is implemented, the public does not need to worry about the spread of Covid-19 cases that are still happening in the community.
“That is what we convey to them, to health friends, then also to the community. That we do it like that and also invite people to continue to apply PHBS (clean and healthy living behavior),” said Didik. (Satrio Wicaksono)
