On Saturday lunchtime there was a fire on a balcony near an apartment building in Belp. One person was brought to the hospital for a check-up.
On Saturday around 12 noon, a fire broke out on a balcony of an apartment building in Belp. When the 35 members of the Regio Belp fire brigade arrived at the location on Aemmenmattstrasse, flames were already visible on a balcony.
The residents present were evacuated from the building, the police said. The fire brigade succeeded in extinguishing the fire quickly and prevented it from spreading to other parts of the building.
Apartment no longer habitable
One person was brought to the hospital for a check-up on suspicion of smoke gas poisoning by an ambulance team. Due to the smoke, the apartment in question is currently no longer habitable. Housing solutions were found for the residents in cooperation with the municipality of Belp.
Aemmenmattstrasse was closed for the duration of the mission. A local diversion has been set up. The Bern canton police have started investigations into the cause of the fire and the amount of property damage.
