He explained that among the advances in legal matters is the Organic Law on the Rights of Women to a Life Free of Violence, which is transcendental because in it “is the issue of crimes of violence against women typified up to reaching and including the femicide.”
In addition, the Law of Partial Reform of the Law for the Protection of Families, Maternity and Paternity, which “establishes very clear criteria on the establishment of paternity, and above all free procedures for the Venezuelan family, was previously an elite “which could challenge paternity or ignore it.” He recognized that Venezuela is an international reference in legal matters in favor of women, “we are one of the countries that has promoted the most legislation, which has been regulating different aspects that guide the lives of women not only with the issue of violence. , but in all aspects of life.”
Regarding sexist violence, he expressed that “it is not dismantled by decree or laws automatically, but rather an awareness of a gender perspective is generated as a result of social constructions,” and through education, which is a fundamental instrument to sow From an early age, gender awareness, peace and hand in hand with culture will destroy this scourge.
During the interview, she expressed her admiration for the Cuban internationalist, Vilma Espín, who in the historical development of the Caribbean nation, was the main leader for women’s rights to study and work. “The sacrifices in the midst of a patriarchal society that did not understand that a woman could assume a role of that nature is extraordinary.”
Espín was in charge of reorganizing the different women’s organizations, where the Federation of Cuban Women was born, of which she was president, being a reference at the parliamentary level and of the women’s movement on an international scale.
