The case is updated
The police received a report about the fire at 23:45 on Saturday. The building that is on fire is supposed to be an old sports and swimming hall.
– It must be a building ready for demolition that is on fire. And there will be three cars parked next to this building that have been ignited as a result of the fire, says operations manager Victor Fenne-Jensen to VG.
The police have not received any reports that there are any people inside the building.
– The fire brigade is still there and will probably be there until the morning. The fire has subsided and there is control when it comes to spreading, says the operations manager at approximately 4 o’clock on Sunday night.
It is Dale Utvikling that owns the buildings that are in flames, writes Sandnesposten.
Probably no further risk of spread
There must be control over the fire in the sense that it does not spread more than it already has.
The building in which it is burning will probably burn down, and the fire service will be on site throughout the night.
Operations manager Fenne-Jensen says that there is heavy smoke coming from the fire, but that there is currently little wind in the area.
Three hypotheses
Police are asking witnesses or people with information to contact them. The police have already been in contact with several witnesses and people who have information about the building and its contents.
We are now working on three different hypotheses that could be the cause of the fire:
- Technical reason
- Negligence
- Intentional arson.
– It is difficult to say whether one is more relevant than the other, says operations manager Victor Fenne-Jensen to VG.
Eventually, crime scene technicians will examine the scene of the fire.
