TEMPO.CO, Jakarta – Deputy Minister of State-Owned Enterprises (BUMN) Pahala Nugraha Mansury said the government is targeting the development of production facilities electric vehicle battery with a capacity of 230 GWh. In this case, the ministry will cooperate Chinese and South Korea to cooperate.
“We hope that the development with a capacity of 230 GWh will not only be used for production in Indonesia, but also for export to other countries,” Pahala said in a joint working meeting with Commission VI of the DPR, Monday, February 13, 2023.
Through the development of these facilities, Pahala wants to grow the use of electric motorized vehicles in Indonesia. The target is to have 300,000 electric motorbikes operating on the streets by 2023.
Another BUMN, namely Pertamina Patra Niaga, will also be involved in developing it battery swapping up to SPKLU. “With the hope that this year the development of batteries can be developed up to 30 thousand battery swapping,” said Pahala.
As for the development of the electric vehicle ecosystem, the Minister BUMN Erick Thohir assessed that this would have an impact on reducing imports of fuel oil or BBM. Moreover, for the development of electric vehicles, Indonesia has resources of nickel, which is the raw material for batteries.
“If we consistently build electric vehicles, we can significantly reduce fuel imports. Especially if we push B35 and ethanol fuel,” said Erick.
Deputy Chairman of Commission VII of the House of Representatives or DPR Eddy Soeparno previously asked the government to be realistic with the target of establishing an electric vehicle (EV) ecosystem in Indonesia.
