Builders fined for price fixing for projects in Amsterdam | Financial

The construction companies hoped that their participation in the tender would remain purely in the picture for future jobs, but did not want to win the contracts. The companies, which the regulator does not mention by name, therefore consulted with other participants about the road, earthwork and hydraulic engineering projects.

Due to price agreements, clients, such as in this case the municipality of Amsterdam, can spend more money. “When competition is distorted, it leads to higher prices, lower quality and less innovation. Agreements about tenders for tenders are in violation of the Competition Act, ”says ACM chairman of the board Martijn Snoep.

Compensation

The punished companies accept the fines imposed by ACM. One of the contractors has received a 10 percent lower fine because this entrepreneur has paid the municipality compensation.
