Build your own speaker and light installation with IKEA FREKVENS

Lovers of minimalist design and a party can certainly do something with the modular Teenage Engineering x IKEA collection FREKVENS, with which you can build your own speaker and lighting installation.

IKEA has launched the modular FREKVENS collection, which was created in collaboration with the creative collective Teenage Engineering. FREKVENS consists of essential products for a party at home, such as speakers and LED spotlights that can be assembled as building blocks into one portable system.

With this, IKEA responds to the spontaneity and liveliness of the young generation. The speaker and light installation can be assembled and dismantled anywhere for a party. The FREKVENS products are now for sale in all IKEA stores.

“Research shows that most millennials are the first to set up music if they want to feel at home somewhere. With this knowledge as the starting point, together we created Teenage Engineering the FREKVENS collection, which ensures that people can take light and sound with them anywhere and can spontaneously build a party. The collection is playful and easy to adjust to your own wishes by determining which parts of the speaker and the light connect you. “The products not only look nice, the sound is also very good”, says Nikolic. In addition to speakers and lighting, the collection also includes party items such as water-resistant cushions, bags, raincoats, side tables, bar stools, bowls and cups.

Hack the speaker like Teenage Engineering

The brain behind the collection, Teenage Engineering, shows on Instagram how you can “hack” the speaker and lighting if you have a 3D printer. You can download the print models on the collective website.
