Bugallo sees “stability” in the contagion data, but asks for caution in the face of the possible impact of Easter

“Although I do not know if the same number of PCRs have been carried out, the data in principle are good,” the mayor acknowledged at a press conference, and pointed out that the number of infections was yesterday Sunday in the 67 cases and the cumulative incidence to 14 days was around 60.

“The data are better than those of the previous days, but they must be taken with caution,” stressed the councilor, who has once again appealed for prudence in a situation that is still “not safe.”

Regarding hotel occupancy, although it has not given concrete figures, Bugallo has admitted that it has been “scarce, nothing to do with what could be expected in Holy Year”.

However, he has been satisfied since, despite the perimeter closures, “the streets of Santiago have been lively throughout the bridge.”

Nor has the municipal councilor given exact figures on complaints for non-compliance with anticovid measures, but has indicated that they have been “few and punctual.”

“Above all, there have been sanctions for not wearing the mask or not complying with the schedule,” Bugallo explained.

Regarding the schedules, the mayor has pointed out that the hotel establishments have also received reprimands in this regard, “although less than 1%”.

SCHOOL DINING ROOMS

In another vein, Bugallo has referred to the judicial procedure in which the city council is immersed for the ownership of a mezzanine premises in the Republic of Salvador.

As explained by the mayor, the court has authorized the bank that had seized the property, “ceded to the city council”, to put the premises up for auction.

“The place had been mortgaged even when it was not mortgagable and was covered by a bank guarantee that was lower than the assumed mortgage,” said Bugallo, who also stressed that it is “unattachable” and that “it really is an asset of the city council.” .

Although, as the councilor has recognized, “it gives the impression that from a legal point of view, there is no other option,” he has announced that he will soon meet with the intervention services to explore all the alternatives.

“We will defend to the limit of our possibilities the possession of that property”, has declared the mayor.

Bugallo has also reported the extension of the services of school canteens administered by the city council – nine in total – until the end of the course and has not ruled out that “another year” will be extended.

“Given the extraordinary situation we are experiencing, it is difficult to call another contest. For that we need some stability and a reasonable forecast of the registered users and the real users of these services,” said Bugallo.

The mayor has also referred to the approval of changes in the approach of some buildings in the Fontiñas neighborhood that, “in certain cases could go from being used as storage rooms to homes.”
