Bug overviewavoidance policy

If you installed Windows 10 from custom offline media or a custom ISO image, this update may remove Microsoft Edge Legacy and not automatically replace it with the new Microsoft Edge.

This bug only occurs if a custom offline media or ISO image was created by slipstreaming a standalone servicing stack update (SSU) released after March 29, 2021 into the image without first installing this update.

Devices that connect directly to Windows Update to receive updates will not be affected. This includes devices using Windows Update for Business.

To work around this bug, first slipstream any standalone Servicing Stack Update (SSU) released after March 29, 2021 to a custom offline media or ISO image before slipstreaming the latest Cumulative Update (LCU).

1. Extract the cab from the msu with the command below. (example in KB5000842)

expand Windows10.0-KB5000842-x64.msu /f:Windows10.0-KB5000842-x64.cab <保存先のパス>

2. Extract the SSU from the cab with the command below.

expand Windows10.0-KB5000842-x64.cab /f:* <保存先のパス>

3. This will create the SSU cab “SSU-19041.903-x64.cab”. Image slipstream this file first, then put in the LCU.

If this problem occurs when you install the OS using custom media,New Microsoft EdgeYou can work around this issue by directly downloading and manually installing . If you need to deploy the new Microsoft Edge for business broadly, seeDownload and deploy Microsoft Edge for Business“Please refer to.
