BUFFON: “The referee of the Ukraine-Italy match did not do a very good job”

The head of the Italian national team delegation, Gianluigi Buffon, shared his opinion regarding the Euro 2024 qualifying match against Ukraine (0:0 draw):

“The players of the Italian national team have given no reason to doubt that they deserve the right to play at Euro 2024. Only those players who are ready to give everything for success always play for this team. The players gave their all in this match. And even if we didn’t manage to win, we showed character.

Penalty? I didn’t see that episode; everything happened far from me. But the referee didn’t do a very good job in this match. He made mistakes on both sides and allowed the players to be too rough.

There is no point in discussing what could have happened. Now we will go to Euro 2024 to defend the title.”
