Gianluigi Buffon had one season to strengthen Paris Saint Germain. He recently admitted he regrets leaving Les Parisiens.
Buffon strengthened PSG in the 2018/2019 season. He left after completing his 17 season journey with Juventus.
Buffon made 25 appearances for PSG, which won the Ligue 1 title and the League Cup. The former captain of the Italian national team then returned to Juventus because he was not willing to be asked to become Alphonse Areola’s backup the following season.
Buffon’s decision turned out to be wrong. He acknowledged this in a broadcast on Bobo TV.
“It was the most beautiful experience of my life and leaving was my biggest mistake,” said Buffon.
“I gave up 10 million euros. They wanted to play Alphonse Areola and I couldn’t accept it. (Being second choice goalkeeper) was something I would only accept at Juventus, that’s what I did but it was also difficult.”
“My son still asks why we left Paris. I felt like a free man there. I went to museums, spoke French… and I thought I would never see the same quality again,” the 45-year-old confirmed.
Buffon is currently still playing. He strengthened Parma as a childhood club, which now appears in Serie B.
