Gianluigi Buffon has not been exhausted. The old goalkeeper just extended his contract together Parma until June 2024.

This was announced on Monday (28/2/2022). Buffon, who is now 44 years old, will continue to serve his youth club until the age of 46.

“Buffon has extended his contract until 2024, I am very happy. Gigi is a great player, one of the three best Italian goalkeepers. We are delighted with this contract renewal,” said Parma president Kyle Krause in a club statement.

“For Parma, it’s an honor that he wants to continue his career with us. Gigi shows passion and dedication for the club and the city of Parma. You can see it every time you meet him.”

We are very happy with this news and very pleased to be able to rely on the commitment he has shown to Parma every day,” said Krause.

This season with Parma, Buffon is still the first choice. He has played 23 times in Serie B, keeping eight clean sheets.

Buffon was one of the world’s best goalkeepers in his golden era. He has won a number of titles, such as 10 Serie A titles, 6 Coppa Italias, a UEFA Cup (now the Europa League), once won the French League, and won the 2006 World Cup with Italy.

He is known as a footballer across the ages, playing with famous father-son pairs on the gridiron. For example, when he played with Enrico Chiesa at Parma in 1996-1999, then with his son, Federico Chiesa at Juventus in 2020-2021.
