Stroll through the cloister of Saint-André-le Bas

In the city center of Vienne, the cloister of Saint-André-le-Bas is home to many stories, just waiting to be told. Building of Romanesque architecture, around the sixth century, it has been restored twice: once in 1938 and the second a few years ago, in 2011, revealing on this occasion, a new museography. Related to the history of the abbey and its district, it is also interactive, accompanied by tactile elements, which will delight even the youngest.

The abbey was one of the most important monasteries in the diocese of Vienne during the Middle Ages. Today, visitors can admire the various collections including in particular obituary plaques and other epitaphs. Three rooms also host temporary exhibitions throughout the year, with which the curious can complete their visit.

Full price: €3. Reduced price: €2 (students, under 25, over 65). Free for children under 18.

Born in Mexico, Miguel Chevalier is considered one of the pioneers of virtual art, using computers as a means of artistic creation. A technique that will surprise visitors of all ages and should amaze the little ones. Two works were even created especially for the Viennese exhibition. Interactive, spectators will be able to interact live on the creation of the images of the latter, using sensors and a shape generator.

The Butchers’ Hall. 7 rue Teste du Bailler. Full price: €3.50; reduced price: €3. Free for children under 18. Until November 5. Exhibition visible on Wednesdays, Thursdays, Fridays, Saturdays and Sundays, from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m.

Walk the White Queen Trail

From the plains to the undergrowth, passing through the hills, the route, over more than 12 kilometers, offers a wide variety of points of view. Due to its low elevation, it is also accessible to beginners and seasoned walkers. With a starting point located in the center of the village of Septème, the path runs along both the Vega stream and the castle. A haven of greenery (and freshness) in the heart of the northern Isère countryside, the colors of the surrounding nature, all along the route, are particularly remarkable at the end of summer and in autumn.

A detailed itinerary and a GPX file can be found and downloaded from the Vienne Condrieu tourism website.

Climb indoors

The place opened its doors in the Gallo-Roman city a few weeks ago. To exercise in a fun way and try out a new activity, it is now possible to practice bouldering indoors in Vienna. What is special about this type of climbing? No equipment is required, neither harness nor ropes.

Different levels and courses are offered, to allow even novices in the discipline to discover the particular sensations of climbing.
