The Budget Commission of the National Assembly will resume the discussion tomorrow in the first debate of bill 1041, on the General State Budget for the period 2024.
The budget under discussion amounts to B/. 30,690.4 million, the same that has a reduction of B/. 2,064.1 million in relation to the original project (B/. 32,752 million).
The Ministry of Economy and Finance (MEF) indicated that the project includes the necessary items to advance with the new Oncology Hospital and the Metetí Hospital, in Darién.
The Minister of the MEF, Héctor Alexander, considered that of the total of the proposed General State Budget about B/. 10,224 million are for investment, and of this total, 53% is monopolized by entities such as the Ministry of Education and the Ministry of Health.
Carlos González, vice minister of the MEF, explained that the bill complies with the allocation contained in the annual budget law for education, with all the obligations of special laws in force to date, with the payments of all public sector contracts. in force to date and with debt service obligations.
González said that this is essential because it allows the country to maintain its attractiveness to international investors.
After the Executive Body approved Resolution No. 135, in which it establishes a reduction of the original budget of B/. 32,752 million, the National Assembly was called to extraordinary sessions for discussion from last Thursday, December 21 to next Sunday, December 31.
