Already during the first substitution, the visiting Jandus found himself alone in front of the goalkeeper Strmeně, but he only aimed at his concretes. From South Bohemia, Pech threatened for the first time in the 4th minute with a repeated shot. After Horák’s missed opportunity, Krejčík took a swing and beat Strmeně, who had an obscured view.
Štencel was able to equalize, but only the Budejovice captain Gulaš was successful, who, during a two-on-one break in his own weakness, opted for a shot instead of a pass. Motor’s elite player immediately got another chance, but scored the second goal only in the 17th minute, when he beat Kovář with an unprepared shot after a cross pass from Percy. But Sparta managed to equalize in the first period thanks to Řepík.
At the beginning of the second half, Kachyňa was sent off in quick succession, and after a mass fight, Gulaš, Vráblík and Kousal, Prague had an almost two-minute advantage in a five-on-three power play. But the alert Stremeň maintained a draw.
The guests gained the lead only after Kempné’s shot from the blue line, which was successfully scored by Tomášek in the 32nd minute. Motor could equalize when Moravčík was sent off, but he could not overcome Kovář.
At the beginning of the third period, Tomášek got another chance, but Strmeň was careful. The fierce fight did not offer a very attractive spectacle, defender Kempný had another interesting opportunity in the 51st minute, who drove to the opponent’s goal from the left, but was unable to score.
Despite a great effort, the home team did not succeed offensively and time worked for Sparta, especially after the unnecessary dismissal of Percy. The South Bohemians sympathetically tried to attack in their own weakness, and hope dawned on them with the subsequent Forman penalty. When Kempný joined him, Motor gained a one-minute advantage, five to three, and Čachotský equalized. Goulash could have turned the score in the ongoing classic power play, but even other attempts by the South Bohemians did not lead to a change in the situation.
The match thus had to be extended, just like the first mutual match between these teams in the season in the south of Bohemia. Once again, Sparta was happy to win after Řepík’s goal. In October, the Prague captain decided after 65 seconds, today he scored even faster.
