The engraved numbers and letters show the names, dates of birth and death of the queen, her husband Philip, her father (King George VI) and her mother (“Queen Mum” Queen Elizabeth). In the center is the coat of arms of the Order of the Garter, to which all four royalty belonged. The plaque is placed in the Memorial Chapel of King George VI in the grounds of Windsor Castle.
The royal residence will reopen to visitors on 29 September, who will then be able to visit the cemetery as well. The Queen had died on 8 September at the age of 96 and she was buried in Windsor Castle on 19 September. The urn of the Queen’s younger sister, Princess Margaret, is also found in the same side chapel, which is part of the Chapel of St George.
