WASHINGTON – President of the United States of America (USA) Joe Biden on Monday (4/4/2022) accused the Russian President Vladimir Putin committed war crimes and called for the Russian leader to be brought to justice.

Biden’s accusations add to global condemnation of the killing of civilians in the Ukrainian city of Bucha as more pictures of their deaths emerge.

“You saw what happened in Bucha,” Biden told reporters at the White House. “This guarantees he is a war criminal,” Biden continued, as quoted by Reuters.

The discovery of mass graves and bound bodies shot at close range in Bucha, outside Kiev, a city retaken by Ukrainian forces from Russian troops, is likely to prompt the US and Europe to impose additional sanctions on Moscow.

“We have to gather information. We have to continue to provide Ukraine with the weapons it needs to continue fighting. And, we have to get all the details, so that this can become a reality, hold a war crimes trial,” Biden said.

“Putin is brutal. And, what happened in Bucha was outrageous, and everyone saw it,” Biden said as his UN envoy announced Washington would seek Russia’s suspension from the UN Human Rights Council.

The Kremlin vehemently denies accusations related to the killing of civilians, including in Bucha. The Kremlin said the graves and bodies had been engineered by Ukraine to desecrate Russia.
