A natural zone of 20 football fields is to be built in Bubikon in the canton of Zurich for an SBB parking facility. The residents defend themselves with a demo campaign and stand with self-made stop signs on the area that would have to give way to the project. The campaign is organized by IG Pro Brach Fuchsbühl under the direction of Nicole Fritschi.
The SVP National Councilor Mauro Tuena is also clearly against the construction project. He cannot understand the SBB’s choice of location and demands a no to the project from the Zurich government in a consultation. For the expansion of the S-Bahn network, which the Canton of Zurich plans to do by 2035, other areas are to be used instead of such a local recreation area. The SBB rejects the allegations – they have chosen the location very carefully. In view of the factors to be taken into account, Bubikon is the best location.
