The famous Korean musical group BTS has announced sad news to its fans, namely that it is forced to take a break until 2025. Why are musicians who are in their prime, who could be growing both creatively and financially during this time, end up in this situation?
The answer is quite simple. Four members of the group have been called up for compulsory military service, which must be completed by 2025. Therefore, there will be no group concerts and no new songs will be released during this time.
In South Korea, all able-bodied men between the ages of 18 and 28 are required to complete two years of military service. As previously reported by “Billboard”, it is possible to postpone military service until the age of 30 by receiving South Korea’s Orders of Cultural Merit.
The three oldest members of the group left the military service before, but the four youngest have started it and will have to finish it within the next year. One of them, Hyeon Jungkook, doesn’t necessarily have to go to training yet, but he decided to do it anyway with the rest of his colleagues.
Their fans on social networks are saddened that there will be silence from their winning group until 2025, considering that the army has four members at once, which is a big shortfall in the seven-man squad. The group’s reunion will take place at the beginning of 2025, when all members will have completed military training and will be able to focus 100% on music again.
