Berlin (dts news agency) – The Sahra Wagenknecht Alliance (BSW) wants to set up parliamentary investigative committees to examine the Corona measures policy after the state elections in Saxony and Thuringia and after the 2025 federal election – and is open to cooperation with the AfD.
“There definitely has to be a committee of inquiry in the Bundestag,” said BSW health expert Friedrich Pürner to the “Editorial Network Germany”. Even after the state elections in East Germany, the BSW will submit applications for committees of inquiry in order to be able to summon witnesses and gain access to files.
“We hope that as many as possible from other factions, including the AfD, will agree with this request.” The process of coming to terms with the past is “a task for society as a whole” and must be “tackle across party lines.” The AfD is also part of this. “There is no room for firewalls and guilt by association. Both are absolutely counterproductive to coming to terms with the past and do not do justice to the wishes of the population,” said Pürner.
Apart from the AfD, which has pushed through investigative committees in Brandenburg and Hesse, for example, no party supports this instrument for dealing with the Corona crisis.
