“We held an extremely important meeting of the National Council of the BSP in view of the upcoming parliamentary elections with several important decisions,” announced the acting chairman of the BSP Atanas Zafirov at a briefing immediately after the meeting itself.
The BSP will appear in the upcoming parliamentary elections in a coalition format.
The leadership of the party was given a mandate to continue the coalition negotiations, including the name of the coalition, the way in which it will be formed, and to complete this entire procedure.
The National Council also adopted the criteria for the promotion of the candidates for people’s representatives. By September 6, the nomination meetings of the municipal conferences must be completed, and by September 8, the regional councils of the party must arrange the lists. They will be finally approved by the National Council, as per the statute of the BSP.
The National Council mandated the acting chairman of the BSP to sign the coalition agreement, as well as to sign and submit to the CEC, to the relevant regional election commissions, the BSP registration documents, as well as the lists of candidates for people’s representatives.
According to its decision from the previous meeting of the National Council, the BSP also launched the party amnesty and rehabilitation of undeservedly punished people. The National Council also voted to review the punishments in the party and their partial cancellation.
“There has been a lot of intrigue and speculation that people will be excluded today, party influence measures will be imposed, this is the second time this has happened, by the way. I will refute it a second time. Such a debate was nevertheless held at the request of members of the National Assembly,” said Atanas Zafirov.
As a result of this debate, the National Council adopted a resolution condemning the open sabotage of the decisions of the National Assembly by members of the national leadership. He tasked the BSP Executive Bureau to consider the possibility of imposing such measures under Article 12 of the BSP.
At the next meeting of the National Council, the Executive Bureau must report on this matter, but necessarily in the presence of these people.
“We also looked at some organizational issues. Today’s meeting took place in an extremely constructive, calm spirit. And all decisions were made with complete unanimity. If memory serves me correctly, the last decision was with one abstention,” Atatas Zafirov summarized the results of today’s meeting.
