The municipal councilors from the BSP group fought for the realization of two very important projects, which are already in the capital expenditures of the municipality until the end of the year. It is about the construction of a sports hall in the “Mladost” area, for which the socialists in SOS have been fighting since 2015, and about the repair of a kindergarten in “Izgrev”. This happened after a report was adopted at the session of the Metropolitan Municipality Council today regarding estimates for financing capital expenditure for the period until the adoption of the Metropolitan Municipality budget for 2023.
“The sports hall in “Mladost” has been our battle for a long time. I am satisfied that we have now managed to include it in the capital expenditures by the end of the year. This is how we provide financing for the start of its implementation,” commented the chairman of BSP – Sofia and the group of the socialists in SOS Ivan Takov.
Milka Hristova, the deputy chairman of the SOS from the BSP, added that the lack of a state budget should not stop the construction of important objects for the city. “They are of extreme importance both for the transport infrastructure and for kindergartens and schools. For the BSP, these are the most important problems to solve in our city, she commented. – Both objects that fell into the capital expenditures of the Metropolitan Municipality until the end of the year, are part of our election platform. The sports hall in “Mladost” will be used by both students and citizens persistently defending them, we can achieve good results and solve problems also in the role of opposition”.
According to Petko Dimitrov, who is a member of the Standing Committee on Finance and Budget in the SOS, the calculated financing of the project for the construction of a multi-purpose sports hall in “Mladost” is a great victory for the BSP group.
“The total value of the project is over BGN 7 million,” he said. “Mladost” is one of the fastest growing areas in the city, but it suffers from a serious lack of sports infrastructure. At today’s meeting of the Finance and Budget Committee I insisted on 35% advance funding for the sports hall, which would guarantee the implementation of the construction activities until the end of the year. However, the committee accepted 25%, and my colleagues and I agreed that when the budget of the Metropolitan Municipality is adopted, we will make a detailed recapitulation and ensure the necessary funds, so that the construction activities do not stop until the hall is fully built”.
Petko Dimitrov added that repair works for over BGN 200,000 will be urgently carried out in the 34th ODZ in the metropolitan area “Izgrev”. “Unfortunately, the kindergarten has been operating in emergency mode since the end of last year, after the roof leaked, he commented. – I am very pleased that now it will be repaired in the shortest possible time and the kindergarten will operate normally.”
