The Regional Stock Exchange (BRVM) crossed the mark of 8,000 billion FCFA in capitalization of its stock market, at the close of its trading session on Tuesday, September 12, 2023, establishing itself at 8,002.22 billion FCFA, an increase of 5.85% since the start of 2023.
This new record consolidates the upward phase started by the market since 2021 and reflects investors’ confidence in our economies despite the international and regional situation. It also reflects the resilience of our businesses. Several listed companies have in fact made progress in the various sectors of activity, posting attractive returns.
With this new milestone, the overall market capitalization of the BRVM stands at 18,184.20 billion FCFA or approximately 30 billion US dollars, representing approximately 16% of the GDP of the UEMOA zone; which consolidates its position as the 6th African stock exchange.
Innovation, the dissemination of quality financial information as well as the improvement of market microstructure and surveillance are the key factors for future success. As a reminder, the milestone of 7,500 billion FCFA was crossed for the first time on October 21, 2015. (Source : Brvm)
