“Brutally toxic”: Nehammer’s skimming off of profits for energy companies continues to cause debates – economic policy

The debate on the question of how sensible it is to skim off profits from state-affiliated energy companies has flared up. Chancellor Karl Nehammer (ÖVP) got it going with the announcement that he wanted to skim off the additional profits from the energy crisis from corporations such as Verbund or OMV. Nehammer’s argument: “Chance profits from companies with state participation belong to the people and not to the company alone.”
