Police in Zagreb have found three dead children and their father, who tried to commit suicide, the Hina news agency reported, quoted by BTA.
Police found the father, as well as the three strangled children, in their apartment at night in Zagreb’s Mlinovi district.
According to unofficial data the father is an Austrian citizen living and working in Zagreb. Prior to the heinous crime, he posted a letter on social media stating that his girlfriend had left him due to harassment by his ex-wife, and that he had run out of money.
“Goodbye everyone! I’m leaving as I can no longer. The love of my life has left me because my ex-wife was very bad with her and I have no money. Everything I’ve tried the last 1 1/2 years hasn’t brought me back to work and even my brothers from the hut of the Masons like …., …. and …. did not want to help, did not even pick up the phone in the end.Only my best friends …. and …. and my brother Hellmuth helped me as much as they could. But now I’m at the end! So goodbye. ” – wrote in his Facebook profile 56-year-old H. K.
The children’s mother was not in Zagreb at the time of the crime, and the children spent the weekend with their father, Croatian police sources said.
Police officers entered the apartment at 2 am after receiving a signal for a suicide attempt. The 56-year-old man was found inside the children – two twins aged 7 and a 4-year-old boy.
The father could be sentenced to 40 years in prison, according to the Index portal.
