27-year-old nurse Rita de Kássia Nogueira went missing from her home in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil, on November 13, according to the Jam Press news agency, citing local media.
Two days later she was found dead in an abandoned house about a mile from her home, tortured and tied around her legs.

According to the family, the 27-year-old was so badly injured that the coffin had to be closed during the funeral.
Close relatives also claim that he showed signs of suffocation.

According to Nogueria’s friend Hugo Guimarães, her friend was found with a badly bruised face, little hair and other signs of brutal torture.
The deceased’s 26-year-old ex-girlfriend is now a suspect in the case. The police inform, according to the Brazilian newspaper The globe which the man reported to the local police station.

– Niesa got into my car and never came back, Aunt Aldenice Nogueira tells local media in Brazil.
Released after a short time
When the ex-boyfriend presented himself to the police, he allegedly said where the 27-year-old’s body was, without being taken into custody.
Soon after, the police searched the man’s home and car, but found no evidence linking him to the murder. He was then allowed to leave after a short time.

Although the suspected ex-boyfriend knew where the body was, according to police he did not confess to the crime or issue a statement.
Authorities are now awaiting the autopsy report before possibly proceeding with the suspect, who is still in the police spotlight.
Rita de Kássia Nogueira, who worked as an emergency nurse, was buried in Rio de Janeiro’s Olinda Cemetery on November 17, two days after she was found dead.
