Lhe police intervened 395 times in Brussels during the night from Friday to Saturday on the occasion of the New Year, reports the spokesperson for the Brussels-Ixelles zone, Ilse Van de keere. Several dozen people have been the subject of administrative arrest.
The Stib reported several degradations of buses, trams and bus shelters, without specifying the extent. At the request of the police and due to massive crowds, the Anneessens station was closed in the evening.

A special intra-zone system, covering the territory of the six Brussels police zones and managed from the new regional crisis center, had been established for the night of New Year’s Eve.
The police intervened 116 times in the Brussels-West zone and 110 times in the Brussels-Ixelles zone, where they made 30 and 44 administrative arrests, respectively. Four judicial arrests also took place in the Midi zone.
The Midi, Marlow (Uccle / Watermael-Boitsfort / Auderghem), Montgomery and Bruxelles-Nord zones together recorded 169 interventions and 55 administrative arrests.
The Fire and Emergency Medical Service (SIAMU) was called 35 times for burning street furniture, mainly garbage cans. Six interventions also took place for burnt cars in the Brussels-Ixelles (1), Brussels-West (2), Midi (2) and Brussels-North (1) areas.
In total, the firefighters intervened 72 times and 120 ambulances were called.
