All pupils and teachers of the Brussels Dutch-language primary school Klavertje Vier have been quarantined until September 16, Brussels Alderman of Dutch-language Education Ans Persoons (one.brussels) reports Friday. The school is closing completely, after infections with the corona virus were found among both staff and students.

Last week, two fifth-grade students tested positive for COVID-19. The entire class then went into quarantine. This week, two teachers were also found to be infected with the virus, while several colleagues showed signs of illness. As a result of this, the crisis cell of the city of Brussels met on Friday morning and it was decided to close the school completely and to quarantine all staff members and students until Wednesday 16 September. In the meantime, the school building is professionally disinfected by a specialized company.
“We would like to restart the school as soon as possible, but of course only in safe conditions. Therefore, all staff and students are tested, with the exception of kindergarten classes. Once all test results are known, we evaluate the situation and the school can possibly restart in phases. The parents received a letter about how they can have their children tested for free, ”says the Persoons ships.
The children will be taught by distance learning in the coming days. The city of Brussels ensures that all students have the necessary computer equipment.
