Sunday afternoon, a call came in at the Brussels emergency center about a person in the Model District who had not responded to calls for some time.
An ambulance arrived on the scene, accompanied by a patrol from the Brussels police. While the ambulances were busy with the victim, the officers saw someone enter the ambulance, presumably with the intention of stealing things from it.
“When our officers went to the ambulance, they were immediately pelted,” said police spokeswoman Ilse Van de Keere. ‘They then called for reinforcements, but they were also pelted. The windscreen of one of our vehicles was damaged but no one was injured. ‘
Those who pelted the police escaped. The person for whom the ambulance was called was cared for on site but did not have to be taken to hospital.
