BOSTON – Derek Forbort broke the tie midway through the third period and on Saturday night the Boston Bruins defeated the Arizona Coyotes 6-3.

The Bruins were returning home and took the opportunity to seal their nineteenth consecutive victory at the expense of the Coyotes.

This is the Bruins’ longest streak against an opponent. They have not lost to the Coyotes since October 9, 2010 in Prague, Czech Republic.

The Bruins won the first two games of their 99th season and the first under Jim Montgomery, who replaced Bruce Cassidy.

The Coyotes erased a 3-1 shortfall in the third period thanks to goals from Josh Brown and Shayne Gostisbehere. Forbort, however, put the Bruins ahead after scoring his first goal since 20 November 2021.

AJ Greer scored twice for the Bruins, who also saw Pavel Zacha, Charlie Coyle and Nick Foligno thread the needle. Jeremy Swayman stopped 21 shots.

Clayton Keller also scored for the Coyotes. Karel Vejmelka has blocked 37 discs.
