Senile dementia is taking away all the memories of Bruce Willis even the most expensive ones. The actor received a diagnosis of frontotemporal dementia in 2022, but none of his family would have expected such a rapid decline. For over a year the star of “Die hard” he has lost the use of speech and recently began not to recognize his family members, starting with his ex-wife Demi Moore.
Demi Moore’s pain
The shocking revelation came from sources close to the actress who, despite her divorce from Willis, remained linked to her ex-husband even before the debut of illness. After remarrying his current partner Emma Heming, Bruce and Demi remained on excellent terms and on more than one occasion, during holidays and family celebrations, the ex-spouses appeared as close-knit as in the best extended families. Discover something sudden worsening of Bruce, however, threw the American actress into despair.
The rapid deterioration
“It was for her heartbreaking see that Bruce didn’t know who he was,” the American site reported Closer, citing sources close to the actress. Since being diagnosed with dementia, Demi Moore has remained by her ex-husband and current wife Emma, visiting Bruce Willis frequently. A trip to Italy that lasted longer than expected, however, kept her away from her family for several weeks and upon her return Demi made the dramatic discovery of her. “She had no idea that it had gotten worse so quickly,” the American actress, who was married to Willis for thirteen years (from 1987 to 2000), would have said. Instead the memory of her and their love seems to have completely vanished and Moore understood this when she met Willis in her house: “her memory it has faded. Demi noticed that she didn’t really recognize her.”
“Bruce Willis no longer speaks”
Only a few weeks ago, Glenn Gordon Caron, television writer and film producer, as well as a close friend of Willis, had made it known that frontotemporal dementia had taken away the actor’s will to live. “He lives as if he were watching life through a screen door,” the man told Peopleadding: “He doesn’t speak anymore, he was a voracious reader but now he doesn’t read anymore. All those language skills I am no longer at his disposal, yet he is still Bruce”. A very hard blow for the family of the Hollywood star, who hoped for a slower progression of the disease and who instead is fighting against time.
