Glenn Gordon Caron, a friend of international artist Bruce Willis, revealed developments in Willis’ health condition after his recent visit to him.
Developments in Bruce Willis’ health condition
During his statements, Caron said that Bruce Willis did not recognize him when he saw him and that it took him minutes to recognize him. Caron also emphasized that Willis had become unable to speak and had lost his ability to read, having previously been an avid reader, and did not want anyone to know this about him.
“Yes, he’s lost all his language skills, but he’s still Bruce Willis,” Caron added. “When you’re with him, you know he’s Bruce and you’re grateful to have him, but the joy is gone from his life.” “There is no one who has more joy in life than Bruce Willis,” Caron continued. “He loved waking up every morning and trying to enjoy life as much as possible, but now he lives as if he sees life through a screen door.”
Emma Willis, wife of Bruce Willis, had previously revealed that her husband suffered from frontotemporal dementia, with which he was diagnosed, during one of her television interviews. During the interview, Emma spoke frankly about Bruce Willis’ health, and said in her statements that he may or may not know what is happening to him. She explained: “It is difficult to know… really, it is very difficult to know.”
Emma Willis continued: “What I’ve learned first-hand is that dementia is hard, it’s just as hard on the person who has it as it is on the family, and that’s no different for Bruce, or me, or our daughters. When they say this is a family disease “It really is.”
Frontotemporal dementia is an umbrella term for a group of brain disorders that affect the frontal and temporal lobes of the brain. This means that parts of these lobes are subject to atrophy, and shrinkage of these areas can lead to problems with speech, comprehension, perception, and personality changes. Other symptoms can include loss of motor skills, including problems with walking or swallowing.
In March of 2022, Bruce Willis’ family publicly revealed for the first time that he was retiring from acting after losing the ability to speak, and in February of this year, Emma announced that Willis’ condition had worsened, and that he had frontotemporal dementia.
