This will be the 74-year-old’s only concert in Norway in 2024.
Was cancelled
In the summer of 2022, Godshavnen på Dokken was to be the scene of the biggest concert in Bergen’s history.
– I have thought about Dokken for several years, but always thought it was impossible to achieve, said Frank Nes in Bergen Live to BT in November the previous year.

The Port of Bergen had then given the thumbs up to move containers and transform the quay area into a temporary concert arena, with space for 45,000 spectators.
But the tour of the artist in question was canceled – and the Dokken adventure had to be put on hold.
Until now.
– We have been ready
In September, a few days after he turned 74, Bruce Springsteen canceled his autumn tour of the US and Canada due to stomach problems. All dates were moved to 2024, starting in Phoenix on March 19.

But there has long been an opening in the tour schedule for the period May to August, and now it is finally clear: Bruce Springsteen & East Street Band will return to Europe this summer for 22 concerts.

The one stop, on 21 July, is Bergen and Dokken – twelve years after he filled Bergenhus fortress, Koengen, twice with a total of 46,000 people.
– We have been ready since 2021. The Port of Bergen has been super positive throughout, a very good partner, says Frank Nes.
Depending on the Dock
As BT has previously written, Kongen in 2023 is far too small for artists in Springsteen’s class. The dock is per to date the only alternative in Bergen.

– Other large Norwegian cities have bigger arenas to offer than Koengen. So we have gradually fallen behind. The dock allows us to compete for the biggest artists who include Norway in the tour schedule, says Nes.

Springsteen has played four concerts at Koengen previously, in 2009 and 2012. All with Bergen Live as co-organizers in a duo with Live Nation.
– These concerts have been some of our highlights so far. The artist’s staff know what they are doing and are very tidy and proper, says Nes.
DKK 1,400 for the most expensive
The pre-sale in Bergen starts on 2 November. The regular sale starts four days later, on November 6.
When Springsteen played two concerts at Voldsløkka in Oslo this summer, 100,000 tickets were sold out in minutes. In Bergen, the capacity is 45,000 tickets.

The ordinary places will cost approximately NOK 1,000. A limited number of so-called “Front Floor” tickets are also being released at approximately NOK 1,550.
– The ticket prices are actually lower than those we had in 2009, considering the dollar exchange rate and inflation. But it’s not exactly cheap to bring in American artists when the krone is so weak, says Nes.
And if you were wondering: Yes, it was Springsteen who, according to BT, was supposed to play at the canceled concert at Dokken in 2022.
