Na’ama Hallakoun, a researcher from the Weizmann Institute of Science, stated, “This object, which has almost reached the limit of burning hydrogen, has the potential to become one of the most massive brown dwarfs known.”

To locate these brown dwarfs, Hallakoun and colleagues used the Ultraviolet and Visual Echelle Spectrograph (UVES) at the Weizmann Institute of Science. This discovery could provide valuable insights into understanding the planet Jupiter.

Hallakoun explained that the extreme ultraviolet radiation emitted by a small star or white dwarf named WD0032-3177 is responsible for the high temperature of WD0032-317B. The brown dwarf is exposed to this radiation, causing it to become extremely hot.

Despite its scorching temperature, WD0032-317B cannot claim the title of the hottest planet in outer space. That distinction belongs to the planet KELT-9b.
