Dresden. The non-profit association brotZeit eV enables school children to have a free breakfast together with volunteer senior citizens. Helpers are still being sought.
According to a survey on equal opportunities for primary school children by the Allensbach Institute for Demoscopy, preparing breakfast is a major challenge for 62 percent of parents for various reasons. Many students in Dresden also come to class hungry in the morning.
The non-profit association brotZeit eV – founded in 2009 on the initiative of the actress Uschi Glas – ensures that school children all over Germany have a good start to the day. For this purpose, the schools work with volunteer seniors who are there for the children with a lot of joy and passion and prepare a delicious, healthy breakfast for them.
Helping hands are currently still being sought for the support region of Dresden and the surrounding area – specifically in the support school “Am Leubnitzbach” (Karl-Laux-Straße) in Dresden. Committed seniors aged 55 and over who enjoy working with school children between the ages of eleven and 16 are welcome to volunteer. Your tasks include preparing a balanced breakfast buffet from 6:30 a.m. to 9 a.m. as well as looking after the children during breakfast time. Team spirit and reliability are required – and the work is remunerated with an expense allowance.
Interested helpers should contact: Isabel Kochale, Tel. 089 / 124147303 or 0176 / 43567051 or email to kochale@brotzeit.schule
