Brothers Surrender in PSC Exam Cheating Incident at Thiruvananthapuram

Thiruvananthapuram – The brothers have surrendered to the court in the incident of running away from the hall when it was certain that they would be caught while appearing in disguise for the PSC examination. The brothers Amaljit and Akhiljit, who are natives of Nemam Shantivila, surrendered before the Ad.CJM court. Both were remanded. Brother Akhiljit came to the hall to write the exam for his brother Amaljit.

An attempt to cheat took place in the University Last Grade Servants Examination held at Poojappura Chinnamma Memorial Girls School on Wednesday. Akhiljit was going to write the exam for Amaljit. Akhiljit is the first defendant and Amaljit is the second defendant. When the officer arrived with the machine for the biometric verification of the candidates, the ‘substitute’ who was sitting in room number 6 ran out with the hall ticket and escaped on the bike of the man who was waiting outside on the road.

The exam time was from 7.15 am to 9.15 am. When Akhiljit entered the exam hall, Jesthan Amaljit waited on his bike outside the exam center. The photo on the hall ticket and the person appearing for the exam are checked by the officials on examination duty. PSC has also started biometric verification on an experimental basis from this exam. Aadhaar linked data is evaluated through biometric verification.

When the invigilator approached for biometric verification, Akhiljit got down and ran. The PSC employees ran behind but escaped by riding the bike which was started outside and stopped. The PSC officials lodged a complaint with the Poojappura police. The police found the address of the person who had to write the exam through the hall ticket number. Both were absconding. He surrendered to the court on Friday afternoon. Police will take him into custody for detailed investigation.
