Thomas Morgan from Digital Foundry released a breakdown Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons Remake from 505 Games and Avantgarden SRL. The updated version is built on Unreal Engine 5, so it offers not only an updated picture, but also branded features such as Nanite and Lumen.
However, the presence of these technologies greatly affected the resolution and FPS of the remake Brothers: A Tale of Two Sons on consoles. The Xbox Series S was especially affected. The re-release offers a choice of two modes: 30 FPS and 60 FPS.
-
Nanite and Lumen significantly transform the picture, they also completely redid the character models, the camera position during cutscenes, and added several new scenes
-
The “Quality” mode on PS5/Series X runs at dynamic 1620p, but stays at 1440p on average; Series S – 454-720p range, often stuck to the highest mark
-
The picture on the Series S is cut – the quality of shadows, depth of field, shading, and vegetation density is lower
-
Performance mode leaves Nanite and Lumen, PS5/Series X goes to 1080p with low shadow quality; Series S here often stays at 454p
-
The frame rate in the “Quality” mode is stable on all consoles, the high FPS mode is recommended only if you have a VRR display – the frame rate fluctuates between 35-60 FPS
