Brooklyn Woman Hit by Stray Bullet in Canarsie, New York City

NEW YORK — According to New York City Police, a Brooklyn woman was inside her own home when she was hit by a stray bullet that went through the front window.

The shot was fired shortly after 7 a.m. Tuesday in East 102nd Street close to Flatlands Avenue in Canarsie, the police said. The 29-year-old woman was shot in the arm.

The victim, who was not identified, was taken to the hospital, where he is expected to recover.

Police sources told our sister network NBC New York who believe the shooters were aiming at the building, but the woman who was shot was not believed to be the intended target.

There were no reports of arrests. An investigation is ongoing.
