A shooting on the Brooklyn subway left one dead Sunday night in Crown Heights, Brooklyn, when one man shot another man inside a moving train and then fled.which has caused the authorities to search.
The victim, who was identified as Richard Henderson, 45, was traveling on a number 3 train bound for Manhattan, in an attack that occurred around 8:30 pm, as the train approached the Franklin Ave-Medgar Evers station. College.
Henderson was shot in the back and shoulder, and was found injured by officers inside a subway car at the station. He was later sent to a nearby hospital, where he was pronounced dead. ABC7 reported.
At the moment, the motive for the shooting is still unknown, but the police are actively searching for the suspect, who managed to escape from the scene. According to witnesses, the gunman was a man in his 20s, dressed in a black sweatshirt and jeans.
As a result of the shooting, service on train number 3 was temporarily interrupted. which was southbound at the Franklin Avenue station.
The recent crime was the first within the New York subway system in 2024, the NYPD said.
No arrests have been made and the investigation is ongoing. Police are interviewing passengers who were on the train at the time to determine the motive.
“Everywhere I go, something terrible happens randomly. We just have to learn to live with it. It would be nice if we had better gun control, but that will require a big change in policy and that’s not going to happen,” said Professor Jeff Spinner-Halevim, a witness to the shooting.
