Brooklyn Nets’ Spencer Dinwiddie becomes a free agent

Brooklyn Nets’ Spencer Dinwiddie becomes a free agent this summer. The point guard does not pull its player option and is likely to be one of the most desirable players on the market.

Wie Adrian Wojnarowski (ESPN) reported that Dinwiddie had until Monday to make a decision on his $ 12.3 million player option.

The 28-year-old only played the first three games of the season for the Nets before tearing a partial tear in his cruciate ligament. The Guard reportedly aimed to return to the team for the finals once the Nets reached them. That wasn’t the case, however, with Brooklyn knocking out after overtime loss in Game 7 of the Conference Semifinals against the Milwaukee Bucks that weekend.

Dinwiddie will now be one of the best playmakers out there. In addition to the Nets Guard, Kyle Lowry (Toronto Raptors), Mike Conley (Utah Jazz), Dennis Schröder (Los Angeles Lakers) or Chris Paul (Phoenix Suns) are also available, the latter only if he, like Dinwiddie, does not have his option pulls.

Dinwiddie was only a second round pick in the 2014 draft and then played little in Detroit for two years before the Nets gave him another chance. Dinwiddie improved every season, averaging 20.6 points and 6.8 assists in 2019/20.
