In December Governor Kathy Hochul signed the “Angelica Law”, intended to keep drivers with prior suspensions off the road by felony charging repeat offenders who operate vehicles after committing five or more traffic violations that resulted in suspensions or revocations.
In a similar case, last week Makeda McDonald turned herself in to the New York police two years after the traffic accident that caused the death of her cousin for allegedly speeding in Queens.
Days earlier, a 23-year-old man pleaded guilty to driving drunk and causing a double crash that killed three female relatives who were leaving a “Sweet 16” party on Long Island (NY) in the spring of 2022.
